From infants to after school care, Tuckaway's goal is to offer quality programs for children within a family oriented atmosphere. Tuckaway achieves this goal through a stimulating educational curriculum which is tailored for each child's age and ability. Language development, mathematics, science, social studies, physical activities, and music are a few of the instructional courses children will encounter during their daily schedule.
Tuckaway Child Development began in 1971 when Beverly and Karlis Graubics
purchased a child care center inthe West End of Richmond, on Tuckaway
Lane. Their vision was to provide children something other than being
boxed up in a classroom until their parents picked them up; something
they would want for their own children. They believed that in addition
to providing a quality education, that children should be able to go outside
to run, climb, swim, play, and be children! Tuckaway-West, as it is known,
is situated on 3 acres of land and has 2 swimming pools, ensuring that
children have the space and facilities they need to be children!
Tuckaway has grown to a family of 5 schools in the Richmond area (with one coming to Varina!). Each
school has its own unique characteristics, but remain true to the Graubics'
original idea; have the space for children to grow and the environment
to learn.
