Opening in 1971, Tuckaway West was the very first Tuckaway school. This location proudly maintains a close-knit family feel. Parents frequently comment on how many hugs their children receive.

West's separate classrooms provide close attention for younger children and the large school-age classroom features a sunny back porch area for woodworking, painting, or other crafts. The school's small group sizes allow its caring staff to know every child's unique personality.

Outside, West offers acres of playground space. In fact, the playground is so big that everyone at the school can go outside at the same time and still have plenty of room, so children can run and play freely under the caring supervision of staff. Tuckaway West also features two swimming pools: a wading pool for budding swimmers, and a larger pool suitable for swimming lessons and play. All of Tuckaway's pools are supervised carefully by teachers and experienced lifeguards, and Tuckaway provides swimming lessons at no extra cost.

All of Tuckaway's locations feature home-cooked meals, prepared every day in the center's kitchen for family-style dining. Tuckaway West's meals are especially good…they're just like the ones Grandma makes. Everything is made from scratch-even the chicken pot pie! All of Tuckaway's kitchens are fully inspected, and all meals are prepared according to USDA approved menu guidelines.

Tuckaway West can be easy to miss, because it is "tucked away" in the West End (but still convenient to I-64). Tuckaway Lane is right off of Three Chopt Road near Parham Road and looks much like a private drive. Come visit, and see Tuckaway West for yourself.
